Government Rebate Checks

Government rebate checks are for those people who pay their taxes or earn at least $3,000 per annum that includes the payment received by them through Social Security or veterans’ disability benefit funds. There is a provision available for the payment of partial rebate for the singles with income of more than $75,000 and couples with more than $150,000 per annum. People who do not file the tax return or earn less than $3,000 or singles who earn more than $87,000 or couples earning more than $174,000 are not eligible to get the rebate checks.

To get the rebate check the people eligible should file the tax return for the year 2007. Each eligible person would be paid a minimum amount of $300 (for couples$600) to a maximum of $600 (for couples$1200). There is also a provision for the rebate at the rate of $300 per child if anyone has a child. There are people who earn too little to and do not pay taxes but their income is at least $3,000 per annum, this also includes elderly people who only earn through Social Security and veterans who live on disability payments are eligible to receive $300 if single and $600 if a couple.

These rebates are being calculated on the basis of adjusted gross income of the taxpayers for the year 2007. Rebates for low-income people who don’t pay taxes, including the elderly and disabled veterans, these rebates will be calculated at a flat rate of $300 if single and $600 for couples. According to the Treasury Department of US, the rebates would start flowing out from the next May. These rebates are over and above the regular tax refunds for the taxpayers and these are the additional payment being made to the US citizens from the Government.
