From the month of June 2008, the Treasury Department will begin sending checks popularly called as Government rebate checks to more than 130 million American citizens. To qualify for the tax rebate the American citizens will not have to do anything special other than filing their 2007 individual income tax return to receive their payment. There is no requirement of completing applications or file any extra forms or call the Internal Revenue Service to request the payment. People, who have already filed their individual tax returns with direct deposit, need not do anything else to receive the tax rebate checks. The Internal Revenue Service will use the 2007 tax return to determine the eligibility and it would calculate the basic amount of the payment.
A maximum amount of $600 for individuals ($1,200 for individuals who file a joint return) and a minimum of $300 for individuals ($600 for individuals who file a joint return) would be paid back to them as tax rebate.
